Abstract

A study was made on a sample of 19 children, suffering from hearing loss, with different degrees, ages and development level of language, with the objective to evaluate the behavior of several hormones (T4, T3, TSH, cortisol) and insulin, at the beginning and at the end of the rectal ozone treatment in doses according to weight. The results demonstrated that hiperthyroxinemia cases disappeared obtaining a value of T3 and T4 significantly less in the post-treatment. Cortisol reached values significantly lower before the treatment, achieving a normal population distribution after the treatment. Also, insulin values that were lower at the beginning become normal at the end of the treatment. The audiometry also showed improvement. This study demonstrated that ozone, at appropriate doses, could act as a hormonal modulator, producing an auditory improvement.
