Abstract

SUMMARY – This study assessed the effects of Ozone Therapy in chronic peripheral arterial disease, a severely invalidating condition of major importance because of its frequency and clinical severity. Clinical and instrumental investigations were performed in a cohort of 63 patients aged from 65 to 81 years of whom 35 had diabetes mellitus type II. All patients presented chronic peripheral arteriopathies and were classified as stages II and IV according to Leriche-Fontaine. The patients did the Treadmill test walking on an endless belt at a constant speed of 2 Km/h at a 5% gradient. Pain at rest was determined by the Numeric Rating Scale. The Windsor index was measured for an indirect evaluation of disease stage. Patients were then treated by autohaemotherapy lasting an average of six weeks with administrations of an oxygen-ozone mixture at 20 mg/ml three times a week for a total of 18 treatment sessions. Ulcers healed completely in 82.5% of cases. The remaining 17.4% presented a good degree of tissue healing but did not avoid amputation. Pain at rest progressively subsided from starting values of NRS=7.6 to values of 1.02 after Ozone Therapy. Free walking was markedly extended from <50 to >400 metres.

Abstract

With the purpose to study efficiency of combined medical rehabilitation of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) with including air-ozone baths (AOB), examination of 69 CHD males at the age from 41 to 64 years, admitted in rehabilitation center on 10 - 21 day after surgical operation CABG, was performed. As a result of proposed rehabilitation program with including AOB in patients of main group (43 persons) improving of clinical-psychological state and laboratory-functional indices was reached by compensation of hypoxic and hypercoagulation syndromes, improving of oxygen transport, positive influence on oxygen utilization processes, improving of microcirculation, normalization of blood rheological indices, improving of blood supply and metabolic processes in organs and tissues, which resulted in increase in rehabilitation efficiency.

Abstract

The purpose of the work was assessment of clinical efficiency of OT and study of cerebral blood flow indices in combined treatment of DEP patients, including OT. It was detected that addition of intravenous OT in a complex of planned therapy of DEP patients at the age about 60 years leaded to more significant and more rapid (vs. control groups) regress of DEP symptoms, in the first place headache, ear noise, sleeplessness, memory reduce. Decrease in objective manifestation of neurological syndromes such as dysmnesic, akineticorigid, asthenic ones. Blood lipid spectrum, blood glucose level, blood coagulant system and cerebral blood flow indices were improved. These effects were more expressive in patients with the age less than 60 years. In control subgroups these changes were less expressed. Thus, of OT in combined treatment of patients with DEP improved efficiency of drug therapy and accelerated regress of various symptoms of this pathology, especially in patients with the age less than 60 years.
