ABSTRACT:

Hepatitis "C" is a medical problem in Egypt. The usual line of treatment is very expensive with major side effects and low efficacy
especially in type 4, which is common in Egypt. The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of ozone as a safe line of treatment. 
This study included 60 patients' type 4 hepatitis "C" patients, 45 males and 15 females. Their age ranged between 34 and 65 years. Investigations including C.B.C., liver function tests, A.F.P., serological tests for Bilharziasis, P.C.R. quantitative for H.C.V., prothrombin time and concentration and abdominal ultrasonography were done before and 8 weeks, 24 weeks after treatment with ozone. Patients received combined treatment of Major AutoHaemotherapy in a dose range from 4mg to 9 mg and rectal insuflation in a dose range from 6mg to 14 mg per visit. The number of visits was three times per week for 8 weeks followed by twice per week for 16 weeks. The general condition in 95% of cases improved. There was a decrease in the quantitative P.C.R. (viral load) in 91.66% of cases that reached zero (no viraemia) in 18.33 % of cases after 8 weeks treatment. The number of -ve cases for HCV virus increased to reach 36.67 % of cases after 24 weeks treatment. Ozone therapy was found to be an effective, safe and less expensive method in Hepatitis "C" patients.

ABSTRACT:

The trigger of the zoster or shingles condition is the varicella zoster virus. It manifests itself as a local recurrence through a weakened immune condition, mainly arising during childhood.

 

Depending on the degree of immune weakness, it can spread from one to several segments (i.e., zoster generalisatus).

 

The duration of healing, severity of disease, and post-zoster neuralgia also depend on the immune condition prevailing.

 

Older patients often indicate an immune weakness. This is why zoster illness with the complications mentioned above occur
frequently in their case.

ABSTRACT:

The overall aim of this study was to assess the ability of ozone therapies to reverse the clinical severity of primary root carious
lesions (PRCLs). In addition, novel methods to detect PRCLs using the Electrical Caries Monitor (ECM) and the Resilience Caries Monitor (RCM) were used. 200 PRCLs were examined in vitro to relate the ECM and RCM readings to clinical criteria used to detect PRCLs. Significant differences in ECM values were found for colour, hardness and all five classes of severity of PRCLs, in addition to sound root tissues, but not for the RCM values.

Background: Ozone therapy - i.e. the treatment of patients by a mixture of oxygen and ozone - has been used for many years as a method ancillary to basic treatment, especially in those cases in which traditional treatment methods do not give satisfactory results, e.g. skin loss in non-healing wounds, ulcers, pressure sores, fistulae,etc.


Material and methods. In the period from January 2000 until September 2002, 68 patients with extensive injuries to the locomotor system and septic complications after surgical procedures were treated with ozone at the Department of Physiotherapy of the 2nd Medical Faculty and the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Locomotor System at the Medical Academy of Warsaw.

RESUMEN EN ESPAÑOL:

Fundamento: las discromías representan daño estético y psicológico para los pacientes. Los efectos deletéreos pueden producir los agentes blanqueadores sobre la estructura dentaria y el ozono puede ser un gran agente oxidante.

Objetivo: evaluar la eficacia del oleozón en los tratamientos de las discromías endógenas.

 

Método: se realizó un ensayo clínico fase II temprana, abierto y secuencial en la Clínica Estomatológica del Hospital Militar de Camagüey en el período comprendido entre julio de 2005 a julio de 2006. La muestra estuvo formada por treinta pacientes portadores de discromías endógenas en algún diente antero superior. Para el tratamiento se utilizó la técnica termocatalítica.

Resultados: en la evolución clínica del color del diente discrómico se evidenció que de forma progresiva aumentaron los pacientes con mejoría del color en la tercera y cuarta visita. Existió dependencia estadística entre la eficacia del tratamiento y el grupo de edad de dieciocho a treinta y siete años al aplicar el test de Fisher. Las discromías recientes lograron el 100% de resultado eficaz. El oleozón resultó ser ineficaz en las discromías muy antiguas. Los pacientes que nunca recibieron terapia blanqueante fueron los que mejor respondieron al tratamiento de ozono.

ABSTRACT:

The treatment to be described here is basically simple from the clinical point of view. The photophysiology that it sets in motion is extremely complex and only partially understood. The pioneers in the field in the early Twentieth Century, Drs. Barrett, Rebbeck, Miley and, most important, Mr. Emmett Knott, an engineer, called the treatment "extracorporeal blood irradiation." We call it "photoluminescence", the irradiation of whole blood samples with ultraviolet light. The term photo-oxidation was adopted to describe the combined therapy of intravenous hydrogen peroxide, an oxygenation process, and photoluminescence, hence photo-oxidation or photox. The hydrogen peroxide increases the oxygen concentration of the blood elements and thus makes the irradiated blood more photosensitive.

A UV irradiation method now being used in a number of universities employs photopheres.is. This FDA-approved method requires the pheresing of the blood and irradiation of the white cells only. In our opinion, based on Knott's original work, pheresis of the blood is unnecessary, vastly more expensive and prone to complications. In fact, photoluminescence, in which the whole blood is exposed to UV light, may be more effective. There are many elements in the blood, other than the lymphocytes, that are photosensitive. Steroids, insulin, antibodies, porphyrins, some amino acids, liposomes, and many other substances in the blood are excited by UV light.

There's bound to be a lot of resistance to ultraviolet blood irradiation as a valid method of treatment. At first blush, it seems to rank right up there with witch doctors and snake oil. But the concept of irradiating blood from an energy source is not new; since ultraviolet light is such an effective viricidal and bactericidal agent, its use as a blood irradiator has intrigued investigators for many years.

ABSTRACT:

This paper describes an innovative method of inactivating blood-borne viruses using ultraviolet blood irradiation called UBI therapy. This process has shown impressive clinical results in treating hepatitis, HIV, and other currently untreatable viruses. The background, theory, and method of using UBI therapy is presented in this paper. This method offers a potential break-through in the treatment of viral diseases and bacteria, and is nontoxic, uses no drugs, and even has FDA certification, and thus is available now for use.

 

Ultraviolet blood irradiation first evolved in the early 1930s as a means to treat persons afflicted with the poliovirus which was causing considerable anguish and fear similar to the advent of the HIV in the 1980s and continuing. Then in the 1950s the Salk vaccine wiped out polio in the U.S. and, as a result of this fact and other reasons, this process fell in disuse until recent years. This process has now been resurrected by the Foundation for Blood Irradiation (FFBI) which had been originally founded in the 1940s by the developers of this process, most of whom are now deceased, who left this to the next generation of researchers to continue. Much credit for the early development of this technology goes to E.K. Knott of Seattle, Washington; Louis Ripley of Danbury, Connecticut; and Dr. T. Lewis of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Ozone has been used as a therapeutical agent and beneficial effects have been observed. However so far only a few biochemical and pharmacodynamic mechanisms have been elucidated. We demonstrate that controlled ozone administration may promote an oxidative preconditioning or adaptation to oxidative stress, preventing the damage induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS).
